having just a passing knowledge of the P&P book I could never figure out why this film was called P&P...never saw ANY incident of either, rather justifiable emotions...was annoyed with the Lizzy wardrobe, geez, Jane had decent gowns, why the brazen slipnot stitch overkill??? I was actually looking forward to see this movie. The result was bottomless disappointment. My honest opinion is there is just no way to shorten a book so considerably and then expect it to be anything else than lacking! There is only one true Darcy: Colin Firth. I won't even get into Ms Bennett ... My advice, if you love Jane Austen: Buy the set with Colin Firth, do yourself a favour here!! I know it is very long but I'm not kidding, it is so worth it!!! I am in the minority here and have not seen the Colin Firth version. (I suppose I will have to soon after reading several good reviews) I am addicted to watching this movieand have seen it so many times that I cannot imagine anyone else but Matthew MacFadyen in the roll for Mr. Darcy and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth.
